Peridot, pronounced (pear-a-doe) is the birthstone for August, stone of the astrological sign of Leo, and associated with the 16th Anniversary. Peridot is a form of Olivine created by volcanic origin. Although the Olivine mineral is abundant, Peridot is rarer.
Most abundant in Egypt and Brazil, it has also been found in Arizona, Australia and most interesting in the Pallasite meteorite.
A unique revelation is that the gemstone worn by Cleopatra was not an Emerald as popularly believed, but its evening cousin, Peridot.
"The evening Emerald" is a glowing green stone known for love, loyalty, and rejuvenation. Peridot is known to alleviate depression, stress, and negative emotions.
